What Revisions Actually Do

Every time you update or save a post in WordPress, it creates a revision. Think of it like a history of your edits.

Instead of starting over or trying to remember what you changed, you can go back and see exactly how the content looked before. This is especially helpful if multiple people are working on the same page or if you’re making a lot of changes at once.

When You’d Actually Use It

Revisions come in handy more often than you’d think.

If you rewrite part of a blog post and it doesn’t sound as good as before, you can go back. If you accidentally delete a section, you can recover it. If a client or teammate prefers an older version, you can restore it in seconds.

How to Restore a Previous Version

Using revisions is pretty simple once you know where to look.

First, open the post or page you want to edit. On the right side of the editor, you’ll see a section labeled “Revisions.” Click on it, then select “Browse.”

This will open a comparison view where you can scroll through different versions of your content. There’s a slider at the top that lets you move between revisions and see what changed.

Once you find the version you want, click “Restore this revision” and WordPress will replace your current version with that one.
